In the year 1985 a handful of people from the main line churches (mostly from the Orthodox, Jacobite and Catholic denominations) in the southernmost state of India felt an urge in their hearts to study the Word of God and to pray together. As they started gathering once in a week in a house, the Holy Spirit started revealing to them the Truth from the Bible which they had never heard before and was never taught in their respective churches.

And as they started fellowshipping, the Lord started to work among them with signs and wonders. More and more people started to join their fellowship to worship the Lord and to pray together. The Gospel was shared with everybody with passion and zeal. People from different denominations and religious backgrounds started pouring in.

The truth of the Pentecostal outpouring was not known to them, nevertheless the Lord started filling the congregation with the Holy Spirit, accompanied with gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Lord healed the sick and demons were cast out of those who were afflicted. Many were persecuted and ostracized from their society because of their new found faith, nevertheless the fellowship started growing stronger and stronger. The gathering felt the need to register themselves with the government and in the year 1993 the team was registered under the Charitable Societies Act, in Kottayam.

Since its founding days, Gennesareth Gospel Team has been labouring in different districts of Kerala and also parts of northern India not just to preach the gospel but also to exhort the body of Christ. The Gospel is being preached with zeal through all possible means. In the year 2011 the team decided to use the internet and the social media for a wider reach around the globe, thus this website was launched.
